Peru-Chile CONMEBOL - Eliminatoria 2010 Prediction
30.03 01:10
Peru, which has 7 points and a negative fifteen goal differential, is currently ranked in last place in South American WC Qualifications. On March 29, the Andean team will go up against Chile, which has a plus one goal differential, sixteen points and is ranked number four in South America.Coach Jose "Chemo" del Solar said in a press conference that he has the hopes Peru will defeat Chile in it`s next FIFA World Cup Qualifier.During the press conference, Del Solar acknowledged that Chile have a great squad, and was being brilliantly led by Marcelo Bielsa. He also added that in every game on home turf Peru is a favorite,so the hopes of getting three points are very high.Peru`s top strikers Claudio Pizarro and Jefferson Farfan were again overlooked by Solar. They were initially suspended for 18 months by the Peruvian federation following alleged incidents at the team hotel after a World Cup qualifier at home to Brazil in November 2007 but the bans were later cut to three months.Peru will also be without striker Paolo Guerrero after he was banned for six internationals by FIFA following a sending-off against Uruguay last year.As a best hope for his squad Peruvian coach sees Norberto Solano. The 34-year-old Solano has made an inspirational return to his homeland to play for Universitario after 12 years overseas, with his free kicks and long-range shots representing two of Peru`s best attacking options. Here is the Peruvian squad:Butron,Fernandez;Zambrano,Vinchez,Vargas,Rodriguez,Corzo,Prado,Ramos,Contreras;Chavez,de la Haza,Solano,R.Torres,M.Torres,Fernandez,Garcia,Sanchez,Trujillo;Ramirez,Fano,Rengifo.
Solid as a Rock
Chile are fourth in the 10-team South American group with 16 points from 10 games.Chile, who beat Argentina 1-0 in their last qualifier in October, visit neighbors and bitter rivals Peru on Sunday.Coach Bielsa did the great job with the team.He managed to motivate his players, so they are always playing on the limits of their possibilities.Playmaker Valvidia has been left out of the squad because of injury.Bielsa continued to overlook Inter Milan striker Luis Jimenez and will give the chance to Hector Mancilla, the topscorer of Mexican Apertura championship.Bielsa said that the win in Lima would be a great step forward toward South Africa.Chile 22-man squad:Bravo,Pinto,Toseli;Vidal,Isla,Fuentes,Contreras,Ponce,Tello,Cereceda,Jara;Estrada,Iturra,Carmona,Morales,Fernandez;Sanchez,Orellana,Suazo,Gonzales,Beausejour,Mancilla.
Bitter rivalry
The games between these two teams are known as "derby of the Ands",and both teams will be highly motivated. Both Peruvian and Chilean players stated that the politics and sport shouldn`t be mixed, and that bad relationships between these two countries wouldn`t affect Sunday game. The guests are in much better form,so we see them as the clear favorites.Peru will play only for the pride, while Chilans have much stronger motives.

Togo-Cameroon CAF - WC 2010 Qual. Prediction
28.03 17:00
There is a total state of chaos in Togo''s football federation. Their historical success - participation at the World Cup in 2006. was almost ruined by leaving that competition early. Promised salaries were not given out to the players and their coach, so it was very close for the unsatisfied players to leave Germany. Nothing much changed since than, coach Stambouli left the team in September 2008. and Togo has been without a team manager for quite a while. About 15 days ago Belgium Thiessen was hired for that position, but it''s highly unlikely he could do anything positive in such a short period of time. Their fans made the situation even worse, and made plenty of riots during the match against Mali in the qualifiers for the African Cup, so Togo now play their home matches on neutral venue in Ghana. All the things stated above give an image of a huge mess and irresponsibility so the chances that Togo qualifies to the next World Cup aren''t very good at all. Coach Thissen insisted that long-term injured best Togo player Adebayor get invited, at least as moral support to his teammates. Even if he enters the game, that will be for a very short time and won''t have any influence on this match. The following players were called up for this match: Agassa Kossi, Mensah Cedric, Obilalé Kodjovi, Assimiou Touré, Akakpo Serge, Nibombé Daré, Atsou Franck, Grondin Christophe, Forson Richmond, Mango Senah, Mamah Gaffar, Amewou Komlan, Romao Alaixys, Senaya Junior, Ayité Floyd, Salifou Moustapha, Ahodikpé Euloge, Kassim Gouyazou, Cheriff Touré, Ayité Jonathan, Dossevi Thomas , Olufadé Adekamni, Adebayor Shéyi Emmanuel, Kader Cougbadja, Djako Arafate.
African football stars
Cameroon is by far the most successful national football team in Africa holding many records. They participated at World Cups the most times of all African teams, and they managed to do it four times in a row. They played excellent in the first part of the qualies, winning 5 times in six matches, and drawing once. One interesting fact is that Cameroon hired Otto Pfister as a coach, a man who led Togo to the World Cup in 2006. Cameroon have some really extraordinary players in their lineup, and beside the old they got a few rising stars who are just building up their careers. However, the key strings on their team are held by well-known veterans Song, Kameni, Makoun and of course phenomenal Eto''o. The following players were confirmed for the match against Togo: Rigobert Song, Geremi Njitap, Samuel Eto’o, Idriss Carlos Kameni, Jean II Makoun, Modeste M’bami, Eric Djemba Djemba, Stéphane Mbia, Daniel Ngom Kome, Somen à Tchoyi, Benoit Assou Ekotto, Gilles Binya, André Bikey, Souleymanou Hamidou, Dorge Kouemaha, Franck Songo’o, Paul Alo’o, Achille Webo, Guy Essame, Armand Deumi, Eric Matoukou, Aurelien Chedjou, Joslain Mayebi.
The Lions with the advantage
Although the situation in Togo has partially stabilized, their old problems will still be felt greatly in this match. New coach for Togo will basically only be an observer cause there wasn''t much time for practicing any of his new tactical formations. The match won''t be played in front of the home fans which will be even a bigger handicap. However, the biggest problem is that Togo''s opponent is terrific Cameroon, who possesses a great deal of experience beside their solid technical knowledge. I believe this will be just a routine match for the Lions and the guests will record a win in this clash. Therefore, I suggest a straight away win with a small note that everything is possible in the matches between African teams.
Tip: Cameroon , Odds 1.8
England-Slovakia Friendly - National Teams Friendly Prediction
28.03 18:15
By bringing Fabio Capello as England`s team maanger, a big project has started, with a goal of bringing the English football back to the place their public expects them to be, and that means the very top. Match against Slovakia is friendly and doesn`t have a great meaning but Capello will use it to check the quality of certain players that haven`t been getting that many opportunities to prove themselves in the past. The Italian has been using the friendlies in order to give everyone a fair chance, but in the competitive games he insisted on the best results, and judging the situation in their qualifying group the English are convincingly first without a single point wasted so far, also being the most efficient team in their group with most goals scored. Capello called all of his best players for this match but it`s a big question who will be in the starting eleven. Heskey and Rooney were mentioned as a possible attacking duo, while the key role in midfield will probably be given to Gerrard. Capello also announced that he sees this game as a pretty serious clash cause it will prepare them for the next Wednesday, when his team will play a very important clash against Ukraine in the qualies. As I said the lineup hasn`t been announced but the players that got called up are the following: James, Green, Foster, Baines; Jagielka, Lescott, Cole, Terry, Ferdinand, Johnson, Upson; Barry, Carrick, Lampard, Downing, Beckham, Wright-Phillips, Lennon, Gerrard; Cole, Crouch, Heskey, Rooney.
Hard-headed
The Slovaks also made a good choice with the new coach. They gave a chance to a former Czechoslovakian player Vladimir Weiss and solid results soon started heading their way. During 2008. Slovakia drastically improved in the FIFA rankings reaching the 42nd spot and in the WC2010 qualies they are looking very good currently being in the first place of their group. Slovakian team is also using this match to prepare for an important clash on Wednesday against former countrymen Czechs. Weiss said that the good result in London would bring a huge amount of confidence to his team and the defeat, since it`s the most expected outcome, wouldn`t hurt them much. The Slovaks have a few very good, young players who are playing in quality European leagues and one of them is their offensive midfielder from Bochum Sestak. Before this game he said that Slovakian mentality is very specific and his countrymen are known for their stubbornness. He said that when the Slovaks plan to do something, they stubbornly go for it until they achieve their goals. Since their goal is to qualify for the World Cup, Sestak said it would be very nice if they would accomplish that but even if they don`t, they will be giving their best until they finally don`t do it. As this friendly against England is concerned, the Slovaks are aware they don`t stand many chances for a successful result but Weiss did announce a very offensive play in attempt to stun the favored hosts. Same as Capello, neither Weiss announced the starting eleven but this is the squad he called up: Senecki, Mucha, Kamenar; Skrtel, Pekarik, Cech, Durica, Cisovsky, Kratochvil, Zabavnik, Dobrotka, Velachovic; Sestak, Kozak, Obzera, Hamsik, Strba, Sarapa, Karhan; Vittek, Holosko, Mintal, Jendrisek, Jakubko.
Spectacle
Every match played on Wembley featuring the English national football team is a true spectacle. In a familiar and always terrific surrounding, the Three Lions` fans give an extraordinary boost to these games. England is a big favorite to win this clash and that won`t be changed no matter who Capello fields on the pitch. The Slovaks proved to be a very inconvenient opponent, having a few players that are able to make real mess to English defense, and I primarily refer to Mintal and Hamsik there. Both squads have been playing really efficient lately so I think there is no reason for that to stop now. In the last 7 games English played, goals were scored in 5 of them, while the Slovaks did it all 7 times. It`s a high probability both nets will shake once again, so a bet on over is warmly recommended. The difference between the odds on a home win and over 2.5 is quite big, while the probability of them coming in is almost the same. I will not hesitate and am going to place my funds on the over and recommend the same to you.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals, Odds 1.9

Portland-Phoenix NBA - NBA 08/09 Prediction
27.03 03:30
Both teams have injury concerns before this clash, Portland still haven't secured the playoffs while Phoenix is a few games behind the 8th spot in the West and will fight with the Blazers and Mavs for the post-season matches. These two teams met three times this year, and every time the home team won (Suns twice, Blazers once) and the last time they played Roy had a career high 52 pts. Today Roy is a bit under weather due to ankle injury which limited him to only 12 pts and bad shooting from the field in the last Blazers' match which they lost to Philly after OT. Another important player for Portland is questionable for tonight and that's Travis Outlaw, a guy who's shown really nice form this season. Przybilla replaced Oden in the place of starting center and he did it pretty good, still he played a poor match against Philly and seems like his form in a slight downtrend. Suns have two really important guys missing, Stoudemire and Barbosa are both out but the rest of the team is fit and IMO is good enough to keep up with the Blazers for the whole game. I don't know why the books made Phoenix such heavy underdogs when in reality these two sides are totally equal, even with these injuries the Suns have a certain advantage at some positions and when we know how hard the Suns have to fight in order to record a win whenever possible, a bet on them is just a must for me. Insane odds worth high staking.
Tip: Phoenix, Odds 3.5
Netherlands-Scotland UEFA - WC 2010 Qual. Prediction
28.03 20:45
The International week returns this weekend and football tipsters will be taking a little break from the domestic leagues around Europe. Scotland will be travelling to Amsterdam Arena this Saturday to face Holland for the qualifications to World Cup 2010 in South Africa.
Scotland has a difficult task ahead of them as they play the Group 9 leaders. They will be hoping to take any points off Holland to secure their position as 2nd in the group.
Scotland coach Criag Burley has a big headache in front of him before the game against Holland. He will have to travel to Amsterdam without his four of his most experienced players in the squad. Glasgow Rangers defenders David Weir and Kirk Broadfoot have withdrawn from the squad while Derby County’s Kris Common is still out with a calf injury. Spurs’ Alan Hutton will also not feature against Holland.
There could be more bad news for Scotland as Berry Ferguson has a chest injury and Stephen McManus is still struggling to be fit for Saturday. Burley has drafted Glasgow Rangers full back Steven Whittaker and there might be one or two inclusion to the squad depending the situation. Scotland has only won once in the group and that was against Iceland at home. They have also lost to Macedonia away and drew with Norway at home.
Burley knows that his players will have to be rock solid in defence and well prepared tactically against Holland in order to pick up any points. He will be asking Allan McGregor to step into Scotland’s number one shirt in goal replacing Craig Gorden who was not featured in 1st team football for months. Burley hopes this decision can help Scotland to maintain the 2nd spot which will give a playoff spot and a potential one way ticket to South Africa.
Holland could already book their one way ticket to South Africa if they were to beat Scotland on Saturday. They are the current group leaders playing 3 games and won all 3. They have already seen off Iceland at home, beating Macedonia and Norway away. They will probably be happy extend their excellent form by defeating the tartan army in front of the orange wave of fans.
Former Rangers and current Dutch manager Dick Advocaat has only one injury to contemplate with and that is John Heitinga who is nursing a thigh injury. Otherwise, Advocaat has a healthy squad with a striking force of Van Persie and Huntelaar available. There is no doubt that Advocaat will not fail to put out his strongest team available to him on the night.
Prediction: Last time these two teams met at Amsterdam in a competition was in a playoff for a place in the Euro 2004 in 2003. The Dutch trailed 1-0 in the 1st leg but they qualified to the Euro 2004 on the night winning by 6-0.
This result could haunt the Scottish team on Saturday, they are not in full strength and their goal keeper has not had competitive football for months. A repeat of the 2003 result cannot be overruled as the Dutch team is notorious for their offensive and passing football at home.
Boylesports is offering odds at 2.00 for total goals over 1.95, which seems well worth a punt.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals, Odds 1.9

Lyon-Sochaux France - Division 1 08/09 Prediction
22.03 17:00
Lyon lost four successive matches in all competitions, which must be a record of some kind. This match could determine in what direction this season will go and we have no doubts that the hosts will be very motivated. Sochaux escaped the relegation zone by beating Nancy and they will have something to play for at Gerland.
Lyon are going through the rough patch
Even though Lyon had much more competitors for the league title than the previous seasons, they once again emerged as hot favourites with the series of confident performances. Even when they were making mistakes, they stayed at the top as their rivals were unable to take advantage of Lyon’s slip ups. Claude Puel’s team have been looking very good until recently, but the situation have changed considerably in the past few weeks. The run of four straight defeats in all competitions saw the team get eliminated from the Champions League and the French Cup, while they also allowed the title rivals to close the gap to just one point. It is evident that Lyon are in crisis but the players remain optimistic about their chances. The match against Sochaux is extremely important and Puel’s team simply have to take all three points. The fans were delighted to hear that Karim Benzema will be staying for at least one season, while everybody expects Juninho to do the same. Claude Puel has no fresh injury worries and he could name an unchanged line-up to that which started the last two games.
Sochaux will try to surprise Lyon
Sochaux have regularly been involved in the relegation fight over the last few years and not much have changed this season. Soon after the season had started, we could see that Francis Gillot’s team didn’t have enough quality to avoid the relegation struggle and that they would be fighting for their lives. The situation is pretty much the same after 28 rounds of Ligue 1 as Sochaux are on the brink of the relegation zone with the same number of points as 18th-placed Saint Etienne. The club did a good job in January as they signed Sverkos, who now creates a good partnership with Mevlut Erdinc, while Tunisian Micari also fitted right in and he is now the member of the starting 11. Sochaux did improve in the second part to the season but it is more than evident that they lack the quality to get anything against the top teams like Lyon. Gillot is still without El Bounadi, Duplus and Privat, but Maurice-Belay returns from suspension, while Afolabi is back in contention after recovering from injury.
Betting verdict
Lyon are in crisis but they are too serious team to endanger all they’ve worked for throughout the season. Sochaux are in good form but they are poor on the travels and they simply don’t have the quality to stop Lyon from winning this game.
Tip: Over 2.5 goals, Odds 2.0
Lecce-Atalanta Italy - Serie A 08/09 Prediction
22.03 15:00
Lecce have no option but to win as they host Atalanta at the Via Del Mare in Week 29. For the Salentini it will be a desperate attempt to close the gap in the relegation shuffle.
Newly appointed Luigi De Canio was hoping to turn things around on his debut with the Giallorossi, but it didn’t go that well as they were defeated 5-2 in Palermo. They are now second to last with 23 points, three away from 17th placed Bologna.
“We know that we will have to fight until the last minute of the last game,” confessed De Canio. “It was a clear defeat against the Rosanero, but Mario Beretta left me a good team. We are alive, in good condition and will get back our morale soon.”
Meanwhile, Atalanta are having a good season. Despite three consecutive defeats they returned to victory against Torino. They are now in 10th position with 39 points although reaching a UEFA Cup spot by the end of the season seems unlikely.
“We are not safe yet,” claimed Gigi Del Neri. “We still need to earn some more points, but I would like to thank my men for the way they fought in the last game. I will talk about my contract only after Easter.”
De Canio should line up with his favourite 3-5-2 formation, but will have to do without injured Andrea Zanchetta, Daniele Cacia and Andrea Esposito. Fabio Caserta will play a key role in midfield while Josè Castillo and Simone Tiribocchi will have a tough job up front.
Cristiano Doni is out for three weeks and this represents a big blow for the Bergamaschi. Ferreira Pinto and Christian Vieri are also missing. Gyorgy Garics is running out of stamina, he didn’t miss a single game this season, and Del Neri may replace him with youngster Federico Peluso.
Sergio Floccari was the man of the match against Torino. The Italian striker, who has been linked to Roma and Juventus recently, netted a brace and generally looked in good form.
The Lombardi were defeated in their last trip to Puglia back in 2005, but two successive 2-0 wins preceded that setback.
Keep an eye on: Simone Tiribocchi (Lecce) – Known as ‘Il Tir’, Tiribocchi is the only man in Lecce’s squad who seems on top form and proved it in Sicily last weekend. We will have to see how good he really is this time around…

Roma-Juventus Italy - Serie A 08/09 Prediction
21.03 20:30
If Juventus were being graded by a schoolteacher for their effort in chasing down Serie A leaders Inter then they would be marked A+ based on recent results. Four straight wins – against Palermo, Napoli, Torino and Bologna – have added to a run of six matches unbeaten. That run itself finishes off a streak started with their win over Torino in October that has reaped 16 wins from 21 matches.
Roma must try and match that scintillating form over the next two months if they are to claw their way back into the top four – and seal their place in the 2009-10 edition of the Champions League. Three consecutive draws – against Inter, Udinese and Sampdoria – have slowed their progress and they need to get out of this rut that is seeing them wade through glue instead of sprinting away from Genoa and Fiorentina.
Alessandro Del Piero will have revenge on his mind after his penalty miss in the corresponding fixture last season. Back in Week 4 of the 2007-08 campaign, Roma were defending a 100 per cent record and were yet to concede a goal in Serie A play. However, after 17 minutes David Trezeguet netted his 100th goal in Italy’s top-flight. Francesco Totti bagged a brace before half-time to restore Roman pride and just after the restart ADP had his chance from the spot – but he blazed over the bar. Luckily Vincenzo Iaquinta was on hand to nab an equaliser in the 87th minute.
Nevertheless, Pinturicchio has claimed a modicum of payback already earlier this season when he scored a gem of a goal in Turin’s Stadio Olimpico against Roma. In Week 10 the Bianconeri won 2-0, with Marco Marchionni adding the second goal. That victory meant that I Lupi were looking at six defeats in their first 10 games of the campaign – with not even a point won on their travels.
Recent history suggests that Juve will head back north with something from this fixture. Not since 2004 have Roma beaten Juventus on their own turf. Last season’s 2-2 draw ended a run of three home defeats in Serie A and the Coppa Italia for the Eternal City’s red-shirted club. That triumph in 2004 was one to savour though as an opener from Olivier Dacourt, a penalty from Francesco Totti and a double from Antonio Cassano sealed a famous 4-0 win.
Indiscipline has caught up with Roma as they see Daniele De Rossi, David Pizarro, Souleymane Diamoutene and Marco Motta suspended for this crucial game. Added to the injury list that features Cicinho, Marco Cassetti, Juan, Rodrigo Taddei, Simone Perrotta and Alberto Aquilani and the Giallorossi face a real crisis for the visit of Juventus.
Down to the bare bones, youngsters like 17-year-old defender Alessandro Crescenzi, 18-year-old defender Riccardo Brosco and 18-year-old striker Marco D’Alessandro look set to be placed on the Roma bench – limiting Luciano Spalletti’s options should he need to make tactical changes late in the game.
The visitors also have a star-studded list of players who will not be involved at the Olimpico. In truth, Claudio Ranieri could field a whole XI and have a couple of subs to spare from his pool of injured players. Alex Manninger, Paolo De Ceglie, Giorgio Chiellini, Nicola Legrottaglie, Cristiano Zanetti, Jorge Andrade, Mauro Camoranesi, Momo Sissoko, Pavel Nedved, Albin Ekdal, Marco Marchionni, Amauri and David Trezeguet are either out or doubts.
Keep an eye on: Alessandro Del Piero (Juventus) – Two goals last week for Del Piero, just like Milan’s evergreen Pippo Inzaghi he never seems to age. His double took his Serie A total to nine, with 20 plus goals in each of the last two campaigns a late run of scoring form is just what he needs to boost his figures this term – and it would certainly help La Vecchia Signora keep the heat on Inter.
Tip: Draw, Odds 3.1; Over 2.5 goals, Odds 2.0
Crystal Palace-Reading England - Championship 08/09 Predictions
21.03 18:20
The Royals travel to Crystal Palace today.
Steve Coppell should prepare his team for tough match at Selhurst Park.
Glen Little missed the at the Keepmoat Stadium game because of a minor toe problem, but he is back in contention if required. There are no new injury concerns so Steve has plenty of options available to him.
Crystal Palace is a big team with great manager. They played in EPL 2 years ago. But at the moment they are in awful form. They are in the middle of Championship table and I do not predict shiny future for this club, not this year.
Neil Warnock has described his defensive injury list as a 'nightmare' and he has very few options available to him after failing to bring in a player on loan this week. Paddy McCarthy, Claude Davis , Matt Lawrence and Jose Fonte are all set to miss out, so youngster Johnny Ertl could make his first league start for Warnock's mid-table men alongside Clint Hill.
Reading will remain third tomorrow, no matter the other results in the Championship. They are four points behind Birmingham and four ahead of Sheffield United. The Blues host Norwich on Saturday.
The hosts are 12th in the Championship but could move up a place with a victory. They are currently 12 points off the play-offs and nine points above the relegation zone.
With seven points from our last three away games, the Royals are in good shape on the road. Only Ipswich and Wolves have scored more goals than them away from home.
Reading are much better at the moment. Palace have injury problems. Reading need this win to get closer to Birmingham and Wolves.

Aalborg-Man. City UEFA - UEFA Cup 08/09 Prediction
19.03 21:00
Manchester City travel to Denmark to face Aalborg in the second leg of their UEFA Cup fourth round tie knowing that barring a major disaster, they will take their place in the last eight after a 2-0 win at home last week.
It's hard to see City losing this game by three goals or more but Mark Hughes' men have a pretty appalling away record, domestically at least, winning just one of 15 Premier League games.
In the UEFA Cup it's been better - a 2-0 win against Schalke, a 3-1 loss to Racing Santander and a 2-2 draw with Aalborg's compatriots FC Copenhagen last time out added to their two earlier wins over minnows FC Midtjylland and Omonia Nicosia.
It's always difficult to predict what will happen when City take to the field and it's no different here.
Hughes will be familiar with the Danes as they faced rivals Manchester United and Celtic in the group stage of the Champions League, only losing once in the four games, 3-0 at home to United.
Aalborg will need to attack City if they are to get back into this tie and will feel they are more than capable of doing so - they scored nine goals, the same as United and Villarreal in their CL group and netted six in two games against Spaniards Deportivo La Coruna in the last round of this competition.
So there should be goals at the Energi Nord Arena and the evens about more than 2.5 goals looks decent value.
Seven of Aalborg's nine European games (excluding qualifying) would have convered the bet while six of City's eight games have produced three or more goals, including both legs of the tie with Copenhagen.

St. Etienne-Werder UEFA - UEFA Cup 08/09 Prediction
18.03 20:30
Saint Etienne will be looking to overturn a narrow deficit from the first leg as Werder won the first match 1:0. Les Verts have no choice but to attack from the start, while the Germans always play attacking football. Thus, we are in for a very exciting match.
Les Verts lost the first European match after 27 years
Saint Etienne are doing extremely well in Europe this season, but their league campaign is a big disappointment. Even though they have one of the best teams in France, Les Verts are currently in the relegation zone, and they face a difficult relegation fight. The arrival of Alain Perrin did improve the atmosphere in the squad and the team started playing better but they were unable to make a good league run that would have helped them escape the dangerous zone. However, they were more than impressive in Europe and easily qualified for the knockout rounds. They produced a real shock by beating Olympiakos in both legs, scoring five goals in the process. Then came the first leg against Werder, where they were not that good and lost the match 1:0, even though both teams had created plenty of good chances to score. With strikers like Gomis, Ilan and Mirallas, Les Verts should be able to break Werder’s defence, but they are unlikely to keep a clean sheet as Werder are a good attacking side and they have plenty of attacking potential as well. Coach Alain Perrin will have Tavlaridis and Sall back after suspension, while Monsoreau has recovered from injury. However, Matuidi and Dernis are injury doubts, while Perrin and Landrin remain long-term absentees.
Werder are back in scoring form
This season looked like it was going to turn into utter disappointment for the team from Bremen as they couldn’t find their form in the first part to the season. They allowed the leading teams to create a big advantage and are now struggling even to ensure the European qualification. Werder had plenty of problems in Europe as well, as they finished third in their Champions League group and thus continued the campaign in the UEFA Cup. However, they were 2:0 down in the second leg against Milan, after the first leg had finished 0:0 and at that moment it seemed as though that was the end of the road for Werder. However, they produced a great comeback and managed to qualify for the next round on away goals. That game was a big boost for the players’ morale and they continued with great results ever since. After beating St Etienne in the first leg, they trashed Stuttgart at home 4:0 and showed that they were back in the scoring form. They will definitely not be concentrated on defence in France but will rather be looking to score an away goal that would give them big advantage. Coach Thomas Schaaf will not be able to count on suspended Baumann but Ozil has recovered from injury and he will start this match.
Betting verdict
Saint Etienne have no choice but to attack from the start and they should be able to score, considering their attacking potential. Werder always play attacking football and they will try to score an away goal rather than concentrating on defence. Therefore, over 2.5 goals looks like a good bet.

Rimini-Livorno Italy - Serie B 08/09 Prediction
17.03 20:30
This is perhaps the most interesting match of 31st round in Serie B as Livorno that are slowly losing breath arrive at Neri. It will be a chance to Rimini fans to greet Leo Acori their former coach that lead this team from fourth league to Serie B and kept them there for three seasons. Acori was in charge of Adriatic team for six years but then he left because of the lack of ambitions. Livorno are at the top of the standings but they have gone last two games without winning and allowed Bari to move four points ahead. That is why this match is more than important and clearly Toscana side, that beat Rimini in the first part of the season, will go after three new points at Neri.
Rimini didn’t impress against Frosinone
Just like against Brescia they were saved by young Agliardi. They had plenty of problems, the rivals created a lot of chances so they settled for a point in the end , regardless of the fact that they played at home. After a poor start, Adriatici stabilized and winning run saw them head towards the midtable. Seven points in the last three matches allowed them to relax but they are not yet safe even though they are five points ahead of endangered teams. Coach Elvio Selighini was still satisfied with a point against Frosinone, and he stated that at this stage in the season the only thing he is interested in is picking up points in each match so Rimini need only couple of wins to secure their place in the league. They are not playing well at the moment but they have proved to be capable of winning weaker rivals outside of their stadium.
Livorno missed a great opportunity against Cittadella
The problem is in the approach, as they opened the score and had numerical advantage. As Acori said, the problem is in players’ minds. They relaxed too much, failed to finish the rivals and Cittadella got a point for free. Right after the match, Livorno were quarantined as this is a very important match; Diamanti is back after suspension and Amaranti play much better with him in the team. Livorno must play to win, Parma closed the gap and the question is if they can handle the pressure. The play-offs is, of course, the last option but qualification is always uncertain, especially because Brescia too are a well-organized team with a very experienced squad.
Betting Verdict
We don’t think Rimini's form is on the rise and it is hard to expect Aligardi to rescue them every time. Home ground is an advantage but there is not much crowd at Neri and Livorno will have the support of their loyal Ultras and objectively, the visitors are a better team. We believe they can triumph if they score, especially because Rimini haven't got enough strength in-dept . Perhaps home side boss will rest some of the players for the game in Mantova. Anyway, betting on Livorno is the best choice in this midweek Serie B round.

West Ham-West Brom England - Premier 08/09 Prediction
16.03 21:00
Monday night's live Premier League game should be pleasing on the eye with both West Ham and West Brom keen to play the game the right way.
Both have endured differing seasons with their slick pass and movement games - the Hammers sit on the brink of a place in Europe while the Baggies on the brink of a return to the Coca-Cola Championship.
The latter's boss Tony Mowbray refuses to change his philosophy and will not turn to a heavy-handed, physical style in a bid to remain in the top flight.
An admirable enough approach, but with 10 games left he seems almost resigned to the drop with a recent interview revealing that he will play exactly the same way if consigned to the second tier again next season.
Some seven points from safety, perhaps Mowbray is just being realistic rather than expecting the worst but it is slightly surprising for him to give the impression that the white flag is on the verge of being raised.
All might not be not lost though.
In the same interview he also thinks his side are not far away from being competitive in this league - so perhaps it is not all doom and gloom after all at the Hawthorns!
Whatever happens on the run-in, it is at the back where the post-season dissection will start - whether they survive or are relegated - and some shambolic defending at times needs to be sorted out by Mowbray and his staff.
17 goals conceded in their last six outings is a tough handicap to overcome for any side - perhaps the return of Jonas Olsson at the back could help steady the ship as their generosity at the back has coincided with him being sidelined with a knee injury since early January.
They should also be boosted by the news that striker Roman Bednar is fit again after a back problem and that could give West Brom the chance to pick from a near-fully-fit squad bar a couple of long-term absentees.
The hosts on the other hand, will be without Jack Collison (knee), Valon Behrami (knee) and Carlton Cole (suspension) as they try to maintain the push for next season's Europa Cup.
They have ground to make up on sixth-placed Everton but seventh could be good enough ultimately to see them qualify.
Gianfranco Zola was glad of the extended break after beating Wigan 1-0 last weekend and he is now hoping his players will be able to regather that momentum from the JJB Stadium.
Looking back at the stats this season, West Ham have failed to win three games on the spin and with a couple of key players out, that makes a quote of 8/11 rather unappealing.
West Brom have garnered just one victory away from home themselves but the 5/1 chalked up by totesport and Boylesports looks too big in the context of this one game and could be worth a small interest for them to catch out the Hammers.
Tip: Double chance West Brom/Draw, Odds 2.2

Siena-Milan Italy - Serie A 08/09 Prediction
15.03 15:00
With the distraction of the David Beckham saga finally resolved, Milan can get back to fighting to secure their place in the top four – and next season’s Champions League. Since the Englishman arrived from MLS side LA Galaxy in January the Rossoneri have won just five of their 10 League matches and have been eliminated from the UEFA Cup, some steady form in the Serie A run-in is crucial.
Pippo Inzaghi’s treble last week against Atalanta and Alexandre Pato’s sensational form make Carlo Ancelotti’s forward line an ominous threat for Siena to handle. However, they have been in fine defensive form recently – conceding just seven goals in their last nine. The win against Catania last weekend brought to an end a six-match run without a win for the Bianconeri.
The Robur will also have every right to feel like they owe Milan after the encounter back in Week 9. At San Siro the Artemio Franchi side were eventually defeated thanks to a softly conceded penalty. Inzaghi had given the home side the lead and Simone Vergassola equalised before referee Domenico Celi judged that Daniele Portanova had pushed over Inzaghi in the area. Kaka converted the spot-kick.
Last season Siena’s hearts were broken by a 91st minute equaliser from defender Alessandro Nesta. The Tuscan side had led that encounter since the 25th minute after a comical blunder between Rossoneri goalkeeper Dida and full-back Kakha Kaladze – the mix-up allowed Massimo Maccarone to slip in and net a shock opener for the home side.
Since landing in Serie A back in 2003 Siena have only recorded one win over Milan on their home turf. That was back in 2005 when they sneaked a 2-1 win. Their form is not too bad though as they also have a 1-1 draw on their record and a closely contested 4-3 loss – both in 2007. They certainly fare better at home than at San Siro – where they have collected just one point from a possible 18.
The home side have few squad worries. Defender Luca Rossettini is injured while creative midfielder Daniele Galloppa serves a one-match ban. That suspension may restrict the black and white shirts’ offensive verve, but the three-man midfield of Vergassola-Paul Codrea-Lukas Jarolim and trequartista role of Houssine Kharja are all experienced and will be confident of hurting Milan.
You could almost make a competitive team just from the players that Milan have on the sidelines. ‘Keeper Zeljko Kalac, defenders Nesta and Kaladze, midfielders Gennaro Gattuso, Clarence Seedorf and Beckham as well as attacking threats Ronaldinho, Kaka and Marco Boriello are all unfit to make the journey to Siena.
Keep an eye on: Alexandre Pato (Milan) – With 10 goals in his last 15 matches the Brazilian boy wonder has blossomed this season. It’s just a shame that his coming of age has been overshadowed by the Beckham media circus. If he keeps netting at the current rate though people will soon start to take notice.
Tip: Milan, Odds 2.0
Aston Villa-Tottenham England - Premier 08/09 Predictions 15.03 17:00
Just as I have already mentioned in my recent tips, Tottenham do not deserve to be in the bottom part of the table. They definitely don’t deserve to fear for survival but that is something they no longer have to worry about. Redknapp succeeded in stabilizing the team and they are back to safety after the series of good results. Even though they are just four points clear of the relegation zone, their current form should guarantee them survival.
The fact that nobody at the club will be satisfied with mid table finish is something different but after the dreadful start to the season, they cannot hope for more. On the other hand, we have Aston Villa, who surprised not just
Aston Villa are still the main candidates for the fourth place but the latest slip ups could prove costly. They are without a win for quite a while, but they kept the good position thanks to Arsenal’s poor form. Still, the team from

Watford-Sheffield Wed. England - Championship 08/09 Prediction 14.03 16:00
Watford’s form is on the uptrend and leading them towards survival but they will have to do without three of their key players in this match. Sheffield Wednesday failed to win in Preston so they are not too enthusiastic before this game. It seems as both sides would settle for a point…
Hornets found way to rise
Watford regained form and continued the good run with a tough 2:1 win over Nottingham Forest. Already in the first action Hornets opened the score through Gregorz Rasiak but Forest managed to level the score. Still, inspired Tamas Priskin helped Watford take 2:1 lead just before the break, having scored his seventh goal in the last eight matches. The visitors failed to make a serious threat in the second half so home side successfully held on till the end and took three new points.
Manager Brendan Rogers did a good job at Vicarage Road since he came from Chelsea reserve squad. He is picking the fruits of his work lately so Hornets have now recorded six wins in the last eight games and they are moving farther away from the relegation zone. A problem in this match might be the fact that key players are injured. Strikers Tommy Smith and Gregorz Rasiak midfielder and team captain Jay DeMerit. That is why Will Hoskins will partner inspired Priskin up front.
Owls losing battle for late play-off push
Sheffield Wednesday didn’t have luck in Preston. Owls had the lead in the tough match in Lancashire after Francis Jeffers scored 30 minutes into the game. Preston managed to level the score in the very finish of the match thus saving a precious point in the play-offs contention while Wednesday lost the way that lead to the same.
Owls are dangerous against any rivals lately but they didn’t have luck with the results and they were left nailed to the midtable without the realistic chance to break into top six. The atmosphere in the team after losing two points in Preston seems shaky and the same line-up that faced Preston will play against Watford. Leon Clarke is still injured while striker Akpo Sodje will again get a chance from the bench.
Betting verdict
It is hard to tell that Watford are the favourites considering the situation in Sheffield squad as Hornets too will play without three key players. We expect an open and ruthless game where both sides might settle for a point. Priskin is a good scorer but he has no one to assist him while no one in visiting squad will have inspiration for attacking after the shock in Preston. A minimum stake on the draw could pay off.
Bettingexpert.com Tip: Watford , Odds 2.14
I think Preston´s late equalizer killed Wednesday dreams and figting spirit: they can´t make it to the play-offs this season. So the main question today is: how hard they can push against Watford?
Watford find the rythm in the end of January and they have six wins from last eight league games. But they still are not safe and when they got a good run going, why that could not carry on here also? Imo these two sides are quite equal, when you think about quality between these two squads. Wednesday have four points more, thanks to Watford´s awful autumn-season, but Hornets are getting closer all the time.
I see Hornets definitely favorites in this and odds over 2.05 includes value.
Bettingzone Tip: Draw, Odds 3.30
Brendan Rodgers is making excellent progress in his first managerial post at Watford and it's no surprise that the Hornets are becoming very fashionable with punters following a run of six wins in the last eight matches.
The former Chelsea reserve-team boss is impressing everyone who comes into contact with his articulate briefings and insightful player analysis, so much so that a nice little sideline in television punditry seems inevitable further down the line.
However, the affable Ulsterman is more than just a spin doctor if Watford's recent performances are anything to go by because he's obviously earning his corn by offering some unique pearls of wisdom on the training ground.
Indeed, it's tempting to side with the Hornets for the visit of Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
The Owls have been a dangerous proposition in recent weeks but results haven't gone their way and manager Brian Laws all but surrendered in his quest to reach the play-offs following the concession of an harsh injury-time equaliser in a dominant display at Preston in midweek.
So the mood in the Wednesday camp is a little downbeat and it could result in a flat performance at Vicarage Road but odds of 6/5 about the home win aren't quite big enough to set the pulse racing, particularly with Tommy Smith and Grzegorz Rasiak likely to be sidelined.
Instead, it could pay to back Tamas Priskin to score anytime at 21/10 with Paddy Power.
The Hungarian striker has bagged seven in his last nine appearances on the back of some private one-to-one tuition with his manager who insists he possesses as much quality in front of goal as anyone he worked with at Stamford Bridge.
That confidence in the 22-year-old is beginning to pay off and you only have to look back at some of Priskin's finishing over the past few weeks to understand what Rodgers is on about.
Elsewhere, Derby continue to make good progress under Nigel Clough and the 12/5 available on Derby (draw no bet) at Sheffield United is well worth an interest.
The Rams have tasted defeat only once in their last eight league matches, despite coming up against some of the form teams in the Championship, and they could have some joy against a side who have persistently struggled for form in front of their own fans this season.
Kevin Blackwell's men might be setting club records on the road but the midweek stalemate with struggling Blackpool merely confirmed the suspicion that they remain unconvincing at Bramall Lane.
Indeed, the Blades were lucky not to lose against Tony Parkes' men when striker DJ Campbell was sent clean through to put the visitors 3-1 ahead midway through the second half, but United survived that scare and then forced an equaliser from the spot moments later.
The Yorkshire club are refusing to give up on the automatic promotion race but their closer proximity to seventh place is more likely to be dictating the mindset and wins for Burnley, Swansea and Bristol City in midweek won't have gone unnoticed.
So another nervy afternoon could be on the cards and Derby are playing with enough freedom and confidence to take advantage.
That said, a draw would be considered a good result for the visitors as they look to keep their good sequence ticking along, so it's best to keep the stalemate onside and anything above 9/4 on the 'draw no bet' market is more than acceptable.
